AutoZone has committed to providing the lowest SKU-level public sector pricing through the U.S. Communities contract. All U.S. Communities participating agencies will receive the best public sector pricing available from AutoZone. Each participating agency benefits from the aggregate purchasing volume generated by AutoZone from all of the customers enrolled through the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance.
AutoZone uses a "Zone" pricing philosophy based upon the geographic distribution of our locations throughout the United States. Each location is assigned a geographic territory (or Area of Dominant Influence [ADI]) for the purpose of determining the appropriate "Zone" pricing contract best suited for that location based upon the competitors based in the ADI. Each "Zone" pricing contract is based upon our ongoing analysis of regional and national competitors. Once the ADI analysis is complete, AutoZone enables each location with a "Zone" pricing contract based upon the competitors specific to each ADI.
Every product carried at AutoZone will have a lowest "Zone" SKU level price somewhere in the country based upon the portfolio of competitors we track on a consistent basis. As part of our competitive reply to the City of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Purchasing Services public offering; AutoZone created a "lowest-Zone" master pricing schedule that encompasses over 800,000 product SKUs. AutoZone compared every "Zone" pricing file throughout the entire country and selected the lowest price on all 800,000+ product SKUs in order to create the "lowest-Zone" master pricing schedule.
AutoZone's pricing through U.S. Communities is based upon a pricing formulary discount "in addition" to the lowest-Zone master contract created as the basis for the City of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County agreement. The additional discount levels are based upon the cumulative spend of all U.S. Communities participating agencies using the AutoZone program. As cumulative purchasing levels are reached under the U.S. Communities program, the additional percentage off discount is applied based upon the revenue tiers listed below:
- $0 - $3MM = Lowest-Zone less an additional 5%
- $3MM - $10MM = Lowest-Zone less an additional 10%
- $10MM - $20MM = Lowest-Zone less an additional 15%
- Over $20MM = Lowest-Zone less an additional 20%
As more U.S. Communities participating members take advantage of the AutoZone contract, the pricing becomes better for every AutoZone public sector customer.
